• Don’t top off the tank. It is wasted money and bad for the environment since the extra gas evaporates in 10 minutes of driving.
• Change car oil regularly. Properly maintaining your car will keep your car running as efficiently as possible. Use synthetic oil instead of mineral oil. This will cause your engine to run better and give you better mileage.
• Upgrade air filter. More efficient brands of air filters cost a little more but will pay for themselves in most vehicles in fuel savings. Clogged air filters cause engines to work overtime which requires more fuel.
• Use a fuel injector cleaner or complete fuel system treatment occasionally. Not only will you see a boost in gas mileage, but in your car’s overall performance. Fouled injectors vaporize fuel poorly, affecting how completely the fuel is burned.
• Clean out any unnecessary items in your car. If your car is lighter, it will use less fuel to get where you’re going. If you have a bicycle or ski rack, remove it when you’re not using it. It causes drag and lowers mileage.
• Avoid idling. While idling, your car gets exactly 0 miles per gallon while starting the car uses the same amount as idling for 30 seconds. TIP: Park your car and go into the restaurant rather than idling in the drive-through. Idling with the air conditioning on also uses extra fuel.

• Take off slowly from a full stop. This is one adjustment that will have dramatic effects on your gas mileage; don’t tear off from a stoplight or stop sign!
• Stay well away from store fronts where you will spend significantly more time idling and waiting for pedestrians and other vehicles.
• Shift into neutral if you are not comfortable with down shifting. NOTE: This strategy will result in more wear and tear on your brakes.
• Park in the shade because gasoline actually evaporates right out of your tank, and it does so faster when you park directly under the sun - winter or summer.

Prius is on its way to become a brand for Toyota. Toyota envisages the Prius marquee to span an entire lineup of hybrid vehicles, with a distinctive styling that will yell loudly about the vehicles green credentials.

Speculations say three models, currently dubbed the Prius A, Prius B and Prius C will come with the launch of the brand.

Prius may be among the top selling hybrids yet, but with all automakers gearing for a push into this segment, with new and innovative technologies, the new brand may find itself in dire straits. Moreover, with the a hybrid options getting common across vehicle lineups, a separate marquee for hybrids may not be a feasible idea.
Moreover, as hybrids become ubiquitous, a separate and specialized brand will be in a position to handle things better.

Speculators see great merit in creating a Prius brand, but with Toyota’s capability to manufacture vehicles in a short development time, they may just pull this one through.

Russia is proving to be the next target market for Mazda’s upcoming concept car. Said concept car is going to be unveiled at the 2008 Moscow International Automobile Salon, to be held during late of August this year. Apparently, it is something to watch out for. Mazda’s new concept car is nothing but breathtaking. Sketches of the concept car, which is actually a crossover sport utility, had already made its rounds in being shown to the public. Sleek and looking like it belongs to the future (or in a scene in a movie like “Batman”), the upcoming concept car of Mazda is the latest in the line of Nagara concept vehicles. Previous Nagara concept cars were Nagare, Ryuga, Hakaze, Taiki, and Furai.

In the first photo below, you’ll see the latest Nagare up front. It already looks graceful and powerful, as if it’s going to jump out of the paper and roar past you.

In the next photo, the sketch of the recent Nagara concept car is seen sideways. The futuristic appeal is evident in the smooth flowing of lines that will definitely catch a lot of attention from different people.

The third photo below shows the rear part of the concept car. If all of these plans are followed, then the new Nagara concept car will definitely turn some heads.

MSN Autos has released the results for the top five luxury cars in the market today. Can you try to guess which cars are included? The results might surprise you or it might not.

To avoid beating around the bush, let’s start off with the car that took the fifth spot: 2008 Infiniti G35. This car model (a sedan) was pretty well-received when it was introduced last 2003, replacing the Infiniti G20. In fact, the Infiniti G35 was named “Car of the Year” by Motor Trend, one of the oldest and reliable automobile magazines. The 2008 Infiniti G35 has undergone some redesigns. Now it includes the handy Infiniti iPod Interface as well as Driver’s Audio Stage. Another new thing about this car model is the new exterior color, the Desert Platinum. The Sport Package is given as an option for the G35x All-Wheel Drive (AWD) version. The new Infiniti G35 is offered in four different trims: Base, Journey, Sport 6MT, and xAWD. The Mercedes Benz C-Class takes the third spot. This car model was redesigned for this year. It is offered in two versions: Luxury and Sport. There are three trims available for this model: C300 Sport Sedan, C300 Luxury Sedan and C350 Sport Sedan. The C300 Sport Sedan and C300 Luxury Sedan are powered by a 3-liter V6 engine with 228 horsepower. The C350 Sport Sedan, on the other hand, is run by a 3.5-liter V6 engine which kicks off 268 horsepower. Only the C300 Sport Sedan has a 6-speed manual overdrive. The other two have 7-speed automatic overdrive. Some of the top competitors of this car model are the Audi A4, Cadillac CTS, Saab 9-3, the aforementioned BMW 3-Series, and the Volvo S60.

Ford Brings In Diesel Engines for Their Pickups

It is widely known just how truly efficient the diesel engine is. Ford Motor Co. has taken its cue and is reported to equip their pickup trucks, sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and vans with diesel engines some time in the near future. This report came about via the internet, where details regarding the 4.4-liter, turbocharged V8 engine were uncovered. Ford has already confirmed that, indeed, this allegedly new diesel engine will be used in their F-150 pickup truck and Expedition SUV by the time 2010 enters.

This new diesel engine can be compared to the 3.6-liter turbodiesel, as it resembles the engine used in the Land Rover and Jaguar units in Europe. The forthcoming diesel engine will be able to give off nine percent more power as compared to the 5.4-liter gasoline engine. As for the torque, there will be an increase by 15 percent. It retains the zero to 60 mph in terms of acceleration. However, it provides better fuel economy by 20 percent.

The said engine is going to be used in the Lincoln/Navigator SUV, as well as the E-Series vans. The Many Faces of the Ford F-Series: It’s All About the Packages

The last post mentioned the Nite package and if you think that package was meant to impress, then you need to take a look at what transpired during 1992. It was the year that Ford Motor Co. turned its eye back to aerodynamic to further enhance the truck’s performance. The Flareside style was re-introduced that same year. By 1993, XL was adapted as the new base model while the Sport Appearance Package was dropped. The Lightning model was introduced, taking its place in the F-Series line-up. This new model has a 5.8-liter V8 engine which gave off a notable 240 horsepower.

Safety features were given improvements by the time 1994 entered. There now were driver’s side airbags, side door beams and a third brakelight. The Eddie Bauer edition was Ford’s new model come 1995. Its name was taken after the popular company which catered to outdoor gears and apparels. Being the most luxurious among the Ford pick-up trucks, the Eddie Bauer edition was power everything. For the F-250 Heavy Duty trucks, there was an option of the 7.3-liter “Power Stroke” turbodiesel engine. This gave off 210 horsepower and 425 lb-.ft. torque, making it completely capable of towing and hauling.

By 1997, Ford redesigned the F-150. It had gotten rid of the boxy look of the pick-up and instead went for a smoother, sleeker look. For 1999, the F-250 and F-350 Super Duty versions sported bolder grilles, sharp body lines and front side windows which were aptly described as “stepped-down.”

The Harley-Davidson edition for the F-150 was brought in by 2000. the Super Duty trucks, on the other hand, adapted the ABS brakes as well as power window and locks. The last entry stopped on Ford trucks sporting new square headlights during 1979. That would bring us to 1980, an exciting year for Ford Motor Co. as its redesign focused more on the aerodynamics. The hood’s face slanted towards the rear while the grill sported a cleaner look. The more evened out and smooth accent groove were lent to the body sides. SuperCab now has split quarter windows to give the twin window effect. Due to the overhauling of the interior, a ten percent increase in legroom was given. The two styles, Flareside and Styleside were again offered that year. Ford discarded the huge 460 V8 engine from their options. The “twin-traction beam” was introduced to the four-wheel versions of the pick-up trucks, a front suspension which was independent and coil-sprung. The “FORD” letters located at the hood was discarded at 1982. It was replaced by the blue oval Ford insignia instead. The Ranger trim level was chucked out and the “lubed for life” ball joints were introduced. That year, the F-Series line-up consisted of Base, XL, XLT, and XLT Lariat.

Engines were improved yet again by 1983. There was a 460 V8 (7.5-liter) engine which gave off 245 horsepower and a 6.9-liter diesel V8 with 170 horsepower. The diesel may have given off less horsepower but it had a lot more torque meant for serious hauling and towing. By 1984, the F-100 was dropped and the F-150 was adopted as the new base truck.

Ford became the best-selling vehicle for nine straight years and by 1987, they have decided to give their F-Series major overhauling. Headlights were changed in a way that they no longer needed to have everything replaced except for the bulb. The grille saw another change that year: 12 rectangular openings gave a cleaner, simpler look. A sleeker, smoother look was achiever with fresh front fenders, hood and bumper. The instrument panel was also given some tweaking, such as a roomier glove box. Maintenance was made more convenient with a fuse box that’s easier to get to, as well as a more basic yet completely functional belt replacement. Ford came up with the antilock rear brakes and that made them the first to offer this feature on trucks as a standard. Fuel injection was introduced to the 4.9-liter inline six engine, which resulted to an additional 20 percent in the output. 150 horsepower was given off by this engine with the fuel injection. On the other hand, the Sport Appearance Package comprised of wheels that were meant to impress, with a bold tape stripe that ran the flanks of the pick-up truck. To get better fuel economy and a longer-lasting engine life, a four-speed unit which was electronically controlled was offered.

1991 was the year that the Nite package was given birth to. Built as an option for the XLT Lariat, this package sported alloy wheels, sport suspension and decals that enhanced its looks and made it stand out clearly from all the other F-Series models.

The last entry ended with 1960, the year when the clean look of the F-150’s grille was changed to something heavier and bolder. For those who like changes, they’d be happy to know that 1961 was the year that America’s favorite pick-up truck saw a major overhaul in terms of design. Ford Motor Co. brought back the single headlights, for one thing. Then the trucks sported a lower and wider look as compared to before. The two styles were still available, except this time the Styleside had a one-piece cab and box. This lent a more leveled look to it. Changes regarding the grille took place yet again, year after year. In 1965, three fresh engines were introduced: 240-cubic-inch inline six with 150 horsepower, 300-cubic-inch inline six which gave off 170 horsepower and lastly, a 352-cubic-inch V8 which was able to give off 208 horsepower.

The year 1967 was all about changes in the exterior and the cab. The truck now had a smoother body style and a more spacious cab. Three trim levels were offered: Base, Custom and Ranger. The latter trim gave an extra something for comfort: carpeting, seats that were posh and the exterior sported chrome trims (like the grille). Engines were improved yet again by the time 1968 rolled in. There was now a 360-cubic-inch V8 and a 390 V8. Leaf springs were set aside for coil springs in the F-100’s “Mono-Beam” front suspension. The F-250s, however, still made use of the leaf springs. The next year, a four-door pick-up truck was introduced: the Crew Cab.

F-Series widened their offers by 1970. There were four trim levels: Custom, Sport, Ranger, and Ranger XLT. As an additional option, a 302-c.i. (cubic-inch) V8 engine which was able to kick off 220 horsepower was offered. At 1971 and 1972, grille designs were tweaked ever so slightly.

By 1973, the pick-up truck had undergone a lot of changes. The frame became heavier, more packed. The cab was made more spacious. There was an option of a 460-c.i. V8 engine, as well as an automatic transmission and a modified front suspension. These are just to name a few.

SuperCab was introduced in 1974. It was the extended version of the F-Series and it was made available only with the Styleside body. The F-150, on the other hand, wasn’t introduced until 1975. It was a half-ton pick-up which looked like a cross between an F-100 and an F-250. Minor changes were made until 1976. In 1977, changes regarding the engines took place. Now there were two new engines offered: 315-c.i. V8 which gave off 163 horsepower and 400-c.i. V8 with 169 horsepower. These replaced the option for the 360 V8 engine. Square headlights were launched at 1979 across all F-Series trucks.

Ford has forever been reinventing America’s most popular pick-up truck, coming up with various trims and enhancements with the aid of technology. But where did this favored pickup truck begin? How did it all start? What did it go through? What were the things that made it the way it is today? Because Ford Motor Co. had always been passionate and dedicated about bringing out the best in their vehicles, it is worth it to take a brief look at the history that made Ford F-150 what it is today.

It wasn’t until 1948 that the world saw the birth of what would be one of America’s most popular pick-up trucks. There were three F-Series that Ford produced that year: the F-1 (half-ton), the F-2 (three-quarter tone) and the F-3 (Heavy Duty). There were only two engines made available during that year: one that gave off 95 horsepower and has a 226-cubic-inch inline six engine; another was a 239-cubic-inch V8 engine that gave out 100 horsepower. These pick-ups had a smoother look to it, with built-in headlights and a more spacious cab. The windshield was a one-piece back then. By 1951, the engine for this truck was changed to a 215-cubic-inch inline six which churned out 101 horsepower. 1952 was all about some revisions regarding the exterior. There was a different grille insert, for one thing. Another change that was made was the ignition which was made waterproof this time. This was done to give improvement to the truck’s performance and robustness.

It wasn’t until 1953 that the heavy-duty trucks were renamed to F-350 while those which leaned toward being more for the consumers were called the F-100 and F-250. Two major tweaks were done that year as well. The hood poured smoothly to the grille and the front fenders, as opposed to its former self wherein it sat on top of them.

One could say that it was 1954 that the Ford pick-up truck saw major changes. The engine that year was able to give off 115 horsepower with its “Mileage Maker” inline six engine (223 cubic-inch).The 239-cubic-inch V8 engine, on the other hand, gave off 130 horsepower. An option called the “Driverized Cab” was offered. This option presented added comforts such as dome light, cigar lighter and sun visors. More changes were done in the exterior all the way until 1956. The changes just weren’t about the look of the car but its performance as well. Ford hasn’t forgotten about that. The inline-six engine became capable of spurting 137 horsepower while the V8 engine gave off 173 horsepower and had an increase in size. From 239-cubic-inch, it became 272-cubic-inch.

Two body styles were made available by 1957: the Flareside and the Styleside. The former sported separate rear fenders while the latter had a more incorporated appeal with its smooth sides. Both styles had hoods that were lower compared to previous models. Its front fenders added more flair as well. A new grille put an appearance during 1958. Come 1959, Ford came up with something new for this truck: the truck being a four-wheel drive with its interior sporting a two-tone trim. The engine was given a boost, as well. The V8 became larger (292 cubic-inch) and kicked off 186 horsepower. By 1960, the neat and clean look of the truck’s grille was traded for one that looked heavier and more attention-grabbing.

Last time, the bottom half of the Top 10 was revealed. Today, those who made it to the upper half of the list will be shown. Opening the other five cars that are included in the top five is the 2008 BMW 5 Series. This sleek and impressive model is offered in six various trims: 528i Sedan, 528xi Sedan, 535i Sedan, 535xi Sedan, 535xi Sports Wagon, 550i Sedan. All of them are four-door and can accommodate up to five passengers. The 528i Sedan is powered with the standard engine of a 3-liter I6 which gives off 230 horsepower. Its standard transmission is a six-speed manual. However, there is an option of a six-speed automatic transmission with overdrive for those who want more. The 550i Sedan, on the other hand, has a 4.8-liter V8 engine under its hood and is able to give off 360 horsepower.

The fourth place goes to the 2008 Mercedes-Benz C-Class which has three trims. There’s the C300 Sport, C300 Luxury and lastly, the C350 Sport. It’s a Mercedes-Benz yet again that takes the third spot, this time with their 2008 Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Six trims are available for this four-door Luxury Sedan: E350 Luxury Sedan, E320 BLUETEC Sedan, E350 4MATIC Wagon, E550 Sport Sedan, E63 AMG Sedan, E63 AMG Wagon. All of these trims are spacious, since they can all accommodate seven passengers. The E350 Luxury Sedan is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine and has a horsepower of 268. It comes standard with a seven-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. For the E63 AMG Wagon, there’s an impressive 6.2-liter V8 engine under its hood. Yahoo! Autos gave out the list of the top 10 most popular sports cars last week. The results are based on the number of visitors earned by each new car. Taking the number ten spot is the 2007 Lamborghini Murcielago LP640. This sleek and impressive two-door luxury sports car is available in two trims: the Coupe and the Roadster. Both are powered with a 6.5-liter V12 engine which gives off 640 horsepower. Both trims also come standard with a six-speed manual transmission. However, you have the option to get the six-speed automatic transmission. A sleek exterior and an equally sleek two-passenger cabin combined with a powerful engine make the freshened 2007 Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 a car that won’t be forgotten anytime soon.

The all-new 2008 Audi R8 sits on the ninth spot. Offered in two trims, the Coupe Quattro and the Coupe Quattro with Auto R Tronic, this car model is a two-door sports coupe which is able to accommodate two passengers. Both the Coupe Quattro and Coupe Quattro with Auto R Tronic come standard with a 4.2-liter V8 engine that gives off 420 horsepower. Avoidance of accident means keeping your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road. How does one manage this feat? Driving safely and eating healthily is your best bet. With today’s wide array of food, the latter won’t be too hard to tackle. Steering clear from eating distractions while driving, such as unwrapping food or holding a cup of coffee, can be done as well. It really isn’t so hard. Registered dietician, Dr. Joanne V. Lichten (Ph. D. and R.D.) of Sunbelt Snacks, offered a couple of healthy food to munch on while you are on the road.

1. Opt for bottled water, low-fat milk, fruit or yogurt smoothies, and juice or soy beverages. To be on the safe side, use straws while drinking any of these.
2. Eat bagels, baked or low-fat chips, cereals, energy bars, light popcorn, pretzels, small muffins, and trail mix.
3. Snack on dried or fresh fruit such as apples, bananas, grapes, and peaches.

5. You can throw in peanut butter sandwiches in your menu while driving, too.
6. Keep a good supply of whole-grain oats granola bars.
7. Low-fat fruit and grain bars are good for you as well.

Greg Howell, the principal ecoVoyager concept Exterior Designer, had said this about the car, “The 2008 Chrysler ecoVoyager concept vehicle celebrates the romance of automobile travel embodied in a four-door, four-passenger, distinctively American automobile of spirited design… While the ecoVoyager’s supple, flowing one-box shape is purposely designed to achieve aerodynamic efficiencies, it also pushes the Chrysler brand language in a new direction of ‘elegant simplicity,’ by taking full advantage of the space normally occupied by a bulky conventional powertrain setup to drastically reduce the front overhang.”
The inside of this concept car is just as impressive. Its interior is done in the muted color of Dove Gray with warm cheery wood accents. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHA) named 36 vehicles which are supposedly the safest. All 35 vehicles are from the 2008 models. Three tests were the bases for the result of the rankings: 40-mph frontal crash tests, side-impact crash tests and rear crash tests. The vehicles which performed the best on all three crash tests were included in the list. The IIHS gave an additional requirement in 2007. They made it mandatory that a vehicle should have Electronic Stability Control (ESC) for it to be considered in the Top Safety Pick list.

Trucks were added in the list of candidates this year due to their immense popularity. “They’re also more likely than in the past to be used as family vehicles, so equipping them with the latest safety features is important.” Institute President Adrian Lund said. With all the trucks tested, only the Toyota Tundra made it to the Top Picks list. Its standard equipment is the side airbags and stability control.

Lund had noted regarding the addition of the Cadillac CTS to the list, “All luxury cars should perform as well as the CTS, it's a leader in its class for safety. Frontal crashworthiness has improved dramatically for all cars in recent years, but there are still significant differences in how vehicles perform in our side and rear tests.”

2 Hyundai Vehicles in the Top 10 in the Consumer Reports

For the first time, South Korean vehicle models have made it to the list of Top 10 vehicles. The award was given by Consumer Reports magazine. Hyundai Elantra SE small sedan and Hyundai Santa Fe midsized sport utility vehicle made it on the Consumer Reports’ issue for April. The bases for the ratings are road test, safety and reliability of the vehicles. This is due to the fact that consumers weigh these factors highly when it comes to choosing their vehicles.

The Hyundai Elantra is compact but spacious. It is powered by a 2-liter four-cylinder engine with 138 horsepower and 136 lb.-ft. of torque. It comes standard with heated power mirrors, leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and 16-inch alloy wheels. It gives a driving experience that is smooth and quiet. It has good fuel economy and customers say it has excellent cost-benefit ratio. Affordable and stylish, the Elantra seems to have made a good impression on consumers.

The Hyundai Santa Fe comes in six different trims: GLS, GLS AWD, SE, SE AWD, Limited, Limited AWD. The GLS trim houses an improved 2.7-liter V6 engine with 185 horsepower. Volkswagen Lowers Sticker Prices

The spokesman for Volkswagen, Patrick Saint-Pierre, had said, “We always try to be competitive with our prices. Of course we can’t do it (lower prices on Canadian vehicles) each week, or each month.” Following Toyota Canada’s lead in cutting down vehicle prices, Volkswagen Canada Inc. lowers their prices on their 2008 models. There would be less $200 in the Rabbit model. The Touareg model would be getting a cut down of its price up to $5,800.

Toyota iQ Mini to Undergo Production This Year

Toyota Motor Corporation has announced that they will be revealing to the public the new iQ Mini at the Geneva Motor Show, which will take place in March. The said car, which was featured in the 2007 Frankfurt Show as a concept car, was created to be compact but without compromising on giving both driver and passengers plenty of space. It is supposedly focused on having low environment impact. The iQ Mini’s production is reportedly going to start during the later part of this year (2008).

The Toyota iQ Mini is a hybrid car which can accommodate three adult passengers and an additional child. Or alternatively, three adults and added space for luggage. It was created at Toyota’s European design studio located at the south of France. Its principles follow Toyota’s philosophy when it comes to design. It is “forward-looking, intelligent and energetic, with clarity of purpose and function.” The Manager of Toyota Motor Corporation’s design activities, Wahei Hirai, had said before, “The iQ concept is designed to reflect and enhance the lifestyle of its owners. In an urban environment, people want to express themselves through dynamic and on-the-edge design, but at the same time rational factors such as size, functionality and CO2 emissions cannot be ignored… Bringing these contradictory aims together in synergy was critical to the iQ concept, it’s a way of thinking we call the ‘J-factor’, a philosophy at the heart of all our activities.”

No details regarding its mechanical aspects had been given, although it is most probable that it will use a 1.0-liter engine and would feature the technologies of gas saving (ex. The 2009 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Spied

With rounded fog lamps and a toned down front fascia, this model seems to look promising. When it was introduced as a concept car in the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show, the Genesis Coupe had vertical trapezoids for its exhaust pipes. Now the actual car has those pipes fixed vertically instead. There are other more tweaks that have been apparently made, such as the fender along the upper part of the door and the rear windows.

The Hyundai Genesis Coupe is expected to run with two engines: 3.8-liter V-6 and a 2.0-liter turbo four with either a six-speed manual or automatic.. The former has 300 hop and roughly around 250 lb.-ft. of torque. The latter, on the other hand, has 200 hp in estimation. This model is expected to make its way to showrooms late this year or in the first few months of 2009. It might be remembered that back at the 2007 los Angeles Auto Show, Joel Piaskowski, the Chief Designer at the Hyundai Design Center located at Irvine, California, had said this about the Genesis Coupe, “…to create a pure performance car with a design that would capture the imagination of hardcore automotive enthusiasts.” The New York show will be able to unveil to the public the Hyundai Genesis Coupe.

Toyota Tundra Awarded As “Truck of the Year”

Triumphing over the Chevy Silverado HD, GMC Sierra HD and Ford’s array of pick up trucks (such as the F-250, F-350 and F-450 Super Duty), the Toyota tundra was awarded by Motor Trend as its 2008 Truck of the Year. There were particular criteria which the magazine editors had set, such as areas of superiority, value and significance.

The Toyota Tundra has undergone complete overhaul, offering three cabin sizes and three bed lengths. Consumers also get to choose between three engines. Sports car are handcrafted in Germany and they have been sold abroad way back at 2001. North America will have its share of the Yes! two-door roadster soon. German auto makers Funke & Will AG are bound to sell the unique roadster for the first time in the North American market.

Yes! Roadster is a two-door sports car which has gull wings, rounded hood, sides shaped like wedges, and a soft top. It also comes with an optional hard top which can be removed. For $77,995 the standard Yes! Roadster 3.2 runs with an Audi 3.2-liter, V6 engine with a horsepower of 225. There is also a turbocharged version, which costs $97,995. This version has 355 horsepower and can run from zero to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. For those who wants more speed and more power there is an upgrade available. For an added $7,995 the Roadster 3.2 Turbo comes with an engine with 415 horsepower and has a top speed of 200 mph.

Ingolf Hainish, the spokesperson for Funke & Will said that there will be 50 units of the Yes! Roadster to be sold in North America within this year. No definite locations of the North American dealers had been announced as of now.

The 2008 Ford FG Falcon

Ford Australia has come up with a new Ford model: The all-new 2008 Ford FG Falcon. Compared to its predecessor, the new model has a more tapered nose and the bootline is higher by 10mm, with the joint between the windows and doors now raised. Steve Park, the Design manager for Advanced Projects, had something to say about the design of the 2008 Ford FG Falcon, “This car (FG) has design longevity, it dresses up well and it has some good surface languages that is appealing to a lot of people I believe, and we have tested for that.”

There are seven different types of the all-new FG Falcon. For at-a-glance reference and to give you an idea, they will be discussed briefly below.

Ford FG Falcon XT
It runs with a 4.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine; torque is 391 Nm at 3,250 rpm. Its transmission is a five-speed automatic, with an optional six-speed. Its distinctive bumper design sports a bespoke three-bar grille and is the only type of FG Falcon which has standard 16-inch steel wheels. Other standard features are the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and anti-lock brakes which include with brake assist. The XT also has front and side airbags for safety.

Ford FG Falcon G6
This type of FG Falcon is the luxury range of the FG Falcon and is operated by the same engine as the XT’s. Unlike the XT, the G6 has a double cross-hatch grille with a chrome bar on top. This distinction is for the G-series models. It has darker fog light housings and grilles, too. Its wheels are made of 17-inch alloy with six thick spokes. Safety standards are the same with the XT, such as the front and side airbags and anti-lock brakes.

Ford Falcon G6E
The G-series range’s concept was based on the “kinetic” design from Ford Europe. It runs on the same engine as the previous two types mentioned but makes use of the ZF six-speed automatic. The wing mirrors now have side indicator lights. The fog light housings and grilles are lighter in color as compared to the G6 type. Its wheels are different, too. It has a 17-inch alloy wheels with 10 spokes. Its equipment now includes Bluetooth connectivity, dual-zone climate control and seats that are electrically adjustable in eight ways. Its safety measures are taken a couple of steps further: reversing camera and curtain airbags are made available.

Ford Falcon G6E Turbo
Yet another luxury-model Falcon, the G6 Turbo is powered by the same engine as the previous types. However, this time it has a turbocharged engine. With the same engine as the Falcon XT, the XR6 still offers an option of a six-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed automatic. Another option is the Luxury Pack, which includes top quality sound system, 19-inch alloy wheels, leather trim, black onyx trim and the dual-zone climate control air conditioning.

Ford Falcon FG XR6 Turbo
This type offers better performance with its limited slip differential and bigger brakes. It runs with a 4.0-liter inline six-cylinder turbo engine; transmission is 4.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder. It has an impressive 18-inch alloy wheels and sports an optional reversing camera.

Ford Falcon FG Falcon FG XR8
The only FG that’s powered by a V8 engine (5.4-liter), its torque is 520Nm at 4,750 rpm. The bulge on the bonnet is there to house the 5.4-liter V8. The 18-inch alloy wheels are notable, too. It also offers a Luxury Pack and has the option of a reversing camera. Front and side airbags are included as a standard, together with anti-lock brakes and brake assist.

This car was introduced way back in 1961 in Geneva, Switzerland, impressing the public with its impressive style. This model had the top speed of nearly 150 mph. The unique shape of its styling was taken from the popular D-type racers of the 1950 era. The 1963 model of the Jaguar XK-E had a wheelbase of 96 in. and a weight of 2,625 lbs. It ran on a 6-cylinder, 230-cid, 265 hp engine. Not only that but it had a rear suspension which was completely independent. General Motors boasts a powerful engine in the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, the new supercharged 6.2L LS9 small-block V-8 engine. According to the report of Jalopnik, it will be “the most powerful and fastest production car ever produced by General Motors.”

The report also said that GM aims to get “100 horsepower per liter for the LS9, or 620 horsepower (462 kW), and approximately 595 lb.-ft. of torque (807 Nm).”

"When you experience the LS9 in the Corvette ZR1, the terms performance and refinement take on a new meaning," said Tom Stephens, group vice president for GM Powertrain and Quality. "The small-block V-8 once again demonstrates it boundless horsepower potential, versatile design and an architecture with proven quality, durability and reliability," said Stephens. "We haven't yet realized the small-block's performance potential."

The LS9 can generate more power with “lower rpm and carries it in a wide arc to 6,600 rpm.” GM found that “the engine makes approximately 300 horsepower (224 kW) at 3,000 rpm and nearly 320 lb.-ft. of torque (434 Nm) at only 1,000 rpm. Torque tops 585 lb.-ft. (793 Nm) at about the 4,000-rpm mark, while horsepower peaks at 6,500 rpm. The engine produces 90 percent of peak torque from 2,600 rpm to 6,000 rpm.”

"The sixth-generation design of the supercharger expands the 'sweet zone' of the compressor's effectiveness, broadening it to help make power lower in the rpm band," said Ron Meegan, assistant chief engineer. "To put it simply, the low-end torque is amazing."

According to the report, the LS9 will be constructed at GM's Performance Build Center in Wixom, Mich. This is also the same plant that manufactures the Corvette Z06's LS7 engine, along with other high-performance GM production engines.

The LS9 features an aluminum cylinder block with steel, six-bolt main bearing caps and “enlarged vent windows in the second and third bulkheads for enhanced bay to bay breathing.” Meanwhile, a 4.06 inches in bore diameter, cast iron cylinder liners are included in the aluminum block, along with a deck plate. According to the report, the deck plate “simulates the pressure and minute dimensional variances applied to the block when the cylinder heads are installed, ensuring a higher degree of accuracy that promotes maximum cylinder head sealing, piston ring fit and overall engine performance.”

Capable of 3.62-inch (92 mm) stroke is a forged steel crankshaft found inside the cylinder block. This has a smaller-diameter ignition-triggering reluctor wheel and a nine-bolt flange that can give more clamping strength.

The LS9 provides high rpm due to the set of titanium connecting rods and forged aluminum pistons connected to the crankshaft, which can provide a 9.1:1 compression ratio.

Chevrolet Tahoe gets new engine for 2008

TopSpeed recently reported that a new 6.2 liter small-block V-8 engine is available for the Chevrolet Tahoe LTZ in 2008. According to the report, the new engine is capable of generating 380 horsepower or 283 kW together with a six-speed automatic transmission. It is also “the most powerful engine offered in the Tahoe lineup.”

“Tahoe LTZ’s new 6.2L engine highlights the wide range of choices available to Chevy customers,” said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager. “It also reinforces the Tahoe’s position as the most capable full-size SUV on the market.”

It is said that the new engine will be offered on 2WD models and will be a great addition to the lineup with various powertrain options, capabilities and fuel solutions. It will also be integrated to new Tahoe Hybrid and models that can run on E85 ethanol.

Tahoe LTZ’s new 6.2L engine features variable valve timing and a lightweight aluminum cylinder block and has a torque output of 417 lb.-ft. (565 Nm).

Its six-speed Hydra-Matic 6L80 RWD electronically controlled automatic transmission has 6.04:1 overall ratio and two overdrive gears. This can boost performance and improve fuel efficiency. “Also, the 6L80 has a “tap up/tap down” capability that allows the driver to manually select upshifts and downshifts with a button on the column shifter.”

Made for hauling, the Tahoe LTZ 6.2L is capable of towing up to 7,900 pounds (3,583 kg).
Taking a closer look on the Tahoe LTZ boasts great performance and comfort due to its “coil-over-shock front suspension, rack-and-pinion steering and a premium interior that bolsters the vehicle’s comfort, quality and capability.” Handling is taken care by wide front and rear tracks, along with a “lower the center of gravity.”

The powerful 2009 Corvette ZR1

The 2009 Corvette ZR1 is finally here. "Chevrolet's goal with the new ZR1 is to show what an American supercar can deliver, at a price that trumps exotics that cost two, three or four times as much - and does so with exceptional driveability," said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager.

The new LS9 supercharged 6.2L V-8 engine can produce 100 horsepower per liter, or 620 horsepower (462 kW), and approximately 595 lb.-ft. of torque (823 Nm). It features a six-speed, close-ratio, race-hardened manual transmission, along with a high-capacity dual-disc clutch. It also has carbon-ceramic, drilled disc brake rotors and Standard Magnetic Selective Ride Control with track-level suspension.

In the report of Jalopnik, ZR1 is packed with great equipments that will meet the expectations of a powerful and fast car.

"Preliminary testing shows the ZR1 builds on the highly respected Corvette Z06 in every performance category, from acceleration and braking, to cornering grip and top speed," said Peper. U.S. News & World Report releases 2008 Car Rankings

Just recently, U.S. News & World Report today released its 2008 Car Rankings. This ranking, available at RankingsAndReviews.com, states the “best and worst cars, trucks and SUVs based on an analysis of consensus opinions from America's top automotive experts.”

According to the report posted in Jalopnik.com, GM is on the right track as it improved from the 2007 to 2008 car rankings as show in its vehicles almost reaching the top. Some of these are the Chevy Malibu, all-new Buick Enclave, and redesigned Cadillac CTS.

The Malibu was praised due to its driving dynamics, exterior styling and affordability. The CTS, on the other hand, is best for being as an “American car that can finally
compete with the BMW and Lexus nameplates.” Buick’s Enclave ranked #3 out of 23
midsize SUVs, due to its on classy styling and a superb ride. These vehicles joined the Chevy Tahoe, Cadillac Escalade and Chevy Silverado 1500.

Other cars that had impressive rankings were the all-new Infiniti G37, Mazda CX-9 Honda Accord, BMW 5-Series, Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand
Caravan.

Some of those that did not do well in the rack were the all-new Dodge Avenger, which places last out of 25 cars. The all-new Nissan Rogue was also found in the bottom half of the compact SUV rankings.

Ford's new digital design process

Ford now uses the latest design tools to create new designs as well as speeding up the process and reduce costs.

"The capability of the advanced design technology has transformed the Ford team into a powerhouse of digital designers, helping expedite Ford's product development," said Peter Horbury, Ford's executive director of Design for the Americas. "In the nearly four years since I arrived in Dearborn, we've made great strides from a conventional design team modeling many full-size clays to becoming a team that is also versatile and efficient at designing digitally."

According to the report in Jalopnik, using digital tools is Horbury’s passion and vision. This process can let designers, engineers and executives see various product designs without having to wait for weeks just to produce numerous clay models.

The report states that Horbury can cut the six weeks of transforming a sketch into a full-size model to just two weeks and save almost 70 percent with the new digital tools.

Ford has been on the digital design bandwagon since 2005 when “Horbury and his team began integrating new software to revolutionize the process from the largely traditional hand modeling to a more efficient digital process.” According to Horbury this will create a good relationship between traditional and digital design methods.

Ford uses impressive digital high-definition (HD) screens, known as powerwalls, to see the life-size digital vehicles and its other details.

These powerwalls are not just installed in one design studio, it can be found in all Ford design studios around the globem which also helps in the company’s the globalization of product development.

The report says, “Powerwalls use HD rear-screen projection to enable review and refinement of full-scale computer-rendered vehicle designs prior to fabricating physical properties in foam, clay and fiberglass.”

This technology will be used in the development of Ford's 2009 model year vehicles including the new Lincoln MKS luxury sedan.

Another major factor of this technology is the Electronic Design Presentation Room at Product Development Center in Dearborn that has a 60-foot-wide wall capable of catering to three 20-foot-wide vehicle or technology projections simultaneously.

"The Electronic Design Presentation Room is the pinnacle of powerwall technology," said Jeff Nowak, chief designer, Digital Core Team. "The facility provides an effective forum for group discussions and executive reviews that are difficult to do over a 20-inch computer monitor. The reviews are more thorough, and we're able to deliver even better designs as a result."
Everything is digital, Ford even has digital sculptors that can bring the design to life through some of the most advanced software.

In order to see the vehicles in numerous environments, Ford Design utilizes the software program called Udrive developed by Bunkspeed. “This software is unique because with just a few clicks of the mouse it allows designers to review one of the most crucial viewpoints of a vehicle - seeing it in motion, with light and shadow playing across the simulated sheet metal.”

Another program used is HyperShot, which “produces real-time renderings that instantly replicate the effect of light rays on the vehicle.”

Ford’s market research also benefits from the new design process by saving time and resources to get consumer reviews.

"At this point in our design transformation, we've been very pleased with the flexibility our digital process has brought for the entire Ford Product Development team, and the cost savings has been significant," said Horbury. "We're continuing to make advancements each day, and I look forward to the day when we can virtually design even more of the product development process."

New technology from Nissan

Fuga is not the only thing Nissan will be introducing in Japan this month, Distance Control Assist and navigation-enabled Intelligent Cruise Control systems are added to the list.

In a press release, Nissan discussed how the Distance Control Assist system determines the distance of the vehicles, along with the speed of the vehicles through the radar sensor located in the front bumper. Once the system detects that a vehicle is closing in, the brakes automatically decelerate smoothly. It is also act as a safety system as it alerts the driver through message and audio warnings, when a previous vehicle is slowing down.

Meanwhile, the Intelligent Cruise Control system relies on the radar sensor in the frond bumper. The system has a preset speed when a vehicle ahead is present or not.

According to the press release a new features are integrated to the new system. These are the full-speed range following function and it is the world’s first use of navigation map data. The former has better speed range and can activate the brakes when needed. Te cruise control benefits from the new on-board navigation system, since it anticipates the next curve and adjusts vehicle speed. “When approaching a curve, the system gradually decelerates, and as it clears the turn onto a straight road, the system seamlessly resumes to its original speed.”

The driver remains to be in control as he/she can set the necessary settings with a wheel-mounted switch, as long the Distance Control Assist and Intelligent Cruise Control are installed.

Nissan and Chrysler join forces

There may be a possibility for Nissan Motor Co. and Chrysler LLC to share technology in developing new cars and trucks.

According to the report done by Bloomberg, pickups, small cars and engines are included in the joint project. “Nissan wants to tap Chrysler's expertise with large trucks, while Chrysler, acquired five months ago by buyout firm Cerberus Capital Management LP, seeks access to Nissan's small cars.”

Bloomberg sees this partnership as a good way to combat Chrysler ‘s losses for two years and Nissan’s 16 percent decline.

“Collaborating is going to be a way of life,'' said David Cole, chairman of the Center for Automotive Research in Ann Arbor, Michigan. “Costs are high. You have GM and Toyota with global economies of scales. That ramps up the pressure dramatically.''

Nissan and Suzuki Motor Corp. will be manufacturing small pickups in the U.S. next year as Chrysler will be working together with Volkswagen AG to build minivans in Ontario.

It is said that both Nissan and Chrysler is not considering to buy equity stakes from each other, although Nissan spokesman Simon Sproule in Tokyo and Chrysler spokeswoman Lori McTavish in Auburn Hills, Michigan, prefer not to comment on the said issue.

Toshiba batteries for Hybrids

Although today’s green cars are great ways to get around town, car manufactures have not really perfected electric and hybrid vehicles. Some problems include, not being able to charge fast enough, overheat and catch fire, and that the vehicles don’t hold up long enough. Toshiba has a solution for all these concerns, the Super Charge ion Battery.

Kicking tires recently reported that Toshiba claimed, “The SCiB is a safe, fast-charging battery that can repeat the charge-discharge cycle 5,000 times while retaining its effectiveness. This gives the battery a lifespan of about 10 years, even if it’s used every day. In addition, safety features allow the battery to recharge with a 50 amp current, meaning it can recharge more quickly than a standard battery, reaching 90% of its total charge in as little as five minutes.”
The battery was tested in extreme temperatures and Toshiba said it withstand to discharge at temperatures reaching -30 degrees Celsius or about -22 degrees Fahrenheit.

The technology was first known in 2005, but Toshiba used the last two years, “improving the battery’s thermal stability, controlling the thermal runaway and structuring the body to resist internal short-circuiting.” The first SCib will be shipped in March and Toshiba aims to manufacture at least 150,000 each month, until it increases the number by 2010. Hybrids will benefit from this battery but Toshiba is looking beyond that capability.

According to the report, improvements will still be done so that the SCib can serve vehicles solely running on electricity.

Toyota for a Toyota

It was found that previous Toyota owners still prefer to buy a Toyota as a replacement. Among the 170,000 new-vehicle buyers J.D. Power and Associates talked to, 64.6 percent of them said they will buy a Toyota again. The said figure is a “1% gain from 2006 and the highest retention rate in the industry,” as reported in Kicking Tires.

Here are the other findings:
Toyota was followed by Lexus (63%), Honda (62.8%), BMW (58%) and Chevrolet (56.8%), the only domestic in the top five this year.

The report also stated that Chevrolet’s retention rate increase from last year’s 55.3 percent. Scion, another Toyota brand, was not as successful with a decrease of 30.8 percent retention rate. This was said to be because the xA was “axed” to replace the xD. Consumers, however, also said it is because of the limited offers.

“A wide variety of products, improved quality and more-appealing styling were the reasons cited for Chevy's rise in retention,” said Neal Oddes, director of product research for J.D. Power.
Meanwhile, here are the underperforming brands when it comes to retaining owners:
Isuzu (1.5%), Mini (21.1%), Jaguar (24.5%), Pontiac (27.8%) and Scion (30.8%).
Isuzu’s low rating is disappointing."It has had no new products recently, and no new ones are planned," Oddes said of Isuzu.

J.D. Power and Associates said that this figures are important, since “it costs four times as much to attract a new buyer as it does to keep a current one.”

It was surprising for Toyota to get to the top spot despite the numerous recall reports and critics’ claim of the neglect of the company in some aspects as it push to produce more vehicles.
"We found that owners don't question Toyota quality unless they get a recall notice, and even then don't see recalls as a negative," said J.D. Power spokesman John Tews.

New Land Rover coupe to be shown in Detroit Motor Show

Reports have come out that a new look of Land Rover’s new coupe-like crossover will debut at Detroit Motor Show in January. Now, world car fans has released a photo of the concept car. In the previous report, it is said that Land Rover design chief Gerry McGovern is responsible for the car’s new looks. He is also known for the first generation Freelander and the MGF.

HUMMER HX concept by three new designers

Three new GM designers are set to wow the audience in the 2008 North American International Auto Show with the HUMMER HX concept.

This is the first project of David Rojas, Min Young Kang and Robert Jablonski after their stay from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Mich. In a press release, the three young designers were tasked to “design a fun, nimble and innovative HUMMER concept.”

“HUMMER appeals to young people globally and served as a perfect first assignment for our newest talent,” said Ed Welburn, vice president of global design and product planning. “Today’s graduates from top design schools are ready to hit the ground running. The HUMMER design challenge gave our newest designers an opportunity to sprint.”
It was a challenge for the young designers, but thanks to the limited design direction by Carl Zipfel, an ex-professional motocross racer and director of the HUMMER design studio, they became successful in presenting a creative design.

“Carl definitely set the tone,” said Rojas. “While he gave us creative liberty and challenged us to develop innovative ideas, he also defined three HUMMER proportions – wheelbase, approach and departure angles, and stance – and assigned one to each of us. It gave us a chance to collaborate, but also take our own direction.”
The three designers remained true to the original HUMMER design and spiced it up in a futuristic way.

“While we took inspiration from the HUMMER heritage and DNA, we each wanted to evolve it in a new way,” said Jablonski. “We agreed it should be contemporary, compact and definitely open air. It came out great.”

It took three months before the designers were able to present their ideas to Bob Lutz, GM vice chairman and Ed Welburn, who is responsible for choosing the design of the HX concept.

The HUMMER HX will feature the E-85 FlexFuel, “a pair of removable roof panels above the driver and front passenger and a modular, removable rear roof assembly, a slant back assembly and removable doors and fender flairs.”

Beep Beep comes to Bologna Motor Show

Expect the new Peugeot Bipper Van to be launched in the Bologna Motor Show in May 2008. The “Beep Beep” Concept Van follows the Peugeot’s LMS Championship winning Peugeot 908 HDi FAP race car, as reported by world car fans.

It will be offered in two engine options of 1.4 litre Petrol and 1.4 litre HDi Diesel, with the latter having an electronically controlled manual gearbox, along with generating a power of 55 kW and a torque of 160 Nm at 1750 rpm. A diesel particle filter system (DPFS), also known as FAP will also be included.

The color scheme of the Beep Beep and Peugeot 908 HDi FAP will be the same, which are “matt black sides, red bonnet and roof and a white stripe running lengthways along the vehicle.” Another similarity the Beep Beep and Peugeot 908 HDi FAP bears is their “fuel consumption in the combined cycle is 62.7 mpg, with CO2 emissions of 119 g/km.”

Europe version of Ford Focus

News has come out that the European version of Ford Focus will include the ECOnetic, along with its line-up of Ambiente, Trend, Ghia, Titanium and ST models. The new model features Ford's Easyfuel system, start-stop button, tire deflation detection system, LED rear lamps, a standard ESP and an optional Ford PowerShift six-speed double-clutch transmission.

A lot of changes is done on the new Ford Focus, “The 'C' car market is fiercely competitive and this dynamic new look incorporating our 'kinetic design' styling cues is aimed at keeping Focus at the top of its segment. A number of detail changes have been made to some models to deliver even better driveability and NVH performance.” said John Fleming, President and CEO, Ford of Europe.
Along with these changes, the new Focus will be more fuel efficient and get cleaner emissions in the 1.6-litre TDCi variant, which can get sub-120g/km CO 2. The Focus ECOnetic model is equipped with a diesel technology that reaches a low CO 2 average of only 115 g/km.

A Toyota Prius failed an emission test

Hybrids are known to be more environment-friendly as well as more fuel efficient. That’s what everybody thinks, I was surprised to find out that a Georgia resident failed an emission test, three times.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution recently reported that Scott Merritt, Georgia local, was surprised when he failed the emission test thrice.

“I spent a total of three full days getting this resolved," said Merritt. "I went to three different places, and nobody was able to do the test."

According to the report, Merritt encountered some problems, which state emissions officials are working on and hopefully resolve by next year, in time for Prius cars to be allowed for testing.

"We are concerned about this becoming a larger problem," said Tim Smith, the program manager for the vehicle emissions and inspection program at the state Department of Natural Resources. "We expect a lot more of these vehicles to show up at these stations."

The report also said that problems with the Toyota's 2004 Prius were seen early this year. According to Smith, the problem lies on the incompatibility of the software used for the test with the Prius. He also said that this will end by early next year. One solution will include testers “capturing tailpipe exhaust with what's called the two-speed idle test, or TSI.”

One cause of failing the test is because the Prius cannot idle and leads its gasoline engine to shut down.

Despite the 10-step procedure to do the test, Merritt had trouble finding a station which is capable of doing the procedure.

After failing in three different testing areas, Merritt finally gave up and had to be given an emissions waiver by Smith to obtain a Georgia tag.

The problem doesn’t stops there; Merritt will have to go through another test next year as required by the state.

Just recently, kicking tires reported that despite the changes the Mini Cooper coupe underwent for 2007, its convertible won’t be getting any modifications for 2008. According to the report, the convertible version will look and perform just as it did when it debuted in 2002. Mini Cooper fans won’t be seeing any redesigned body, turbo engine and other upgraded features on the convertible.

Along with the vehicle, the convertible prices won’t also undergo any changes for next year. It will remain at $21,950 for the Cooper and $25,400 for the Cooper S, (the prices exclude the $650 destination charge.) Optional features will still be available, such as the John Cooper Motor Works kit for the 2008 Cooper S will cost $6,000. Meanwhile, the Sidewalk edition returns for both the Cooper and the Cooper S can be included for $4,000.

Prices for the Mini Cooper will remain intact with $18,050, as well as in the Cooper S coupes which will still cost $21,200. The 2008 convertibles are now available, while a bit of waiting before buyers can take hold of the coupes in December. The 2008 Clubman, on the other hand, will hit showrooms in February of next year.

Changes in Dodge vehicles

Expect a lot of changes and modifications on the new models of various car companies. Such a company is Dodge.

The new Dodge Ram 4500 and 5500 Chassis Cabs now has a standard 6.7 L Cummins turbodiesel engine, which is capable of prodcing 305 HP and 610 lb.-ft of torque. It is also offered in a 6-speed automatic or manual transmission. The new engine is cleaner and can remove particulate matter emissions and reduce nitrogen oxides by as much as 90 percent. It does this through the help of a diesel particulate filter and an absorber catalyst.

Contractormag.com reports, “The trucks have a commercial-grade frame (50,000-psi steel) to maximize strength and reduce weight. They also come with flat, clean frame rails to facilitate aftermarket upfits or retrofits.”

Larger sizes of the 2008 Sprinter van are available in three vehicle lengths. These are 233, 273 or 289-in. Other features include two wheelbases of 144 or 170-in. and three interior roof height options that include a “mega” option of 84-in.

Engine choices are also available in the Sprinter line, from the 3.0 L V6 turbodiesel or 3.5 L V6 gas engine. According to reports, the gas engine can produce a maximum output of 254 HP and maximum torque of 250 lb.-ft. Meanwhile, the diesel engine has 154 HP and a maximum torque of 280 lb.-ft.

The big vans means large cargo capacity of up to 600 cubic feet, a rear-door opening of 270-in. and a maximum payload of 5,649 lbs. Easy access to the compartment is also available with its sliding door that has a width of 51-in.

The Dodge Dakota pickup, on the other hand, got interior and exterior modifications. Such changes include a bigger cab, longer bed, more towing capacity and more power. 290 HP and 320 lb.-ft. of torque is generated from the new 4.7L V8 engine.

Storage is what the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan cargo van is all about. It has a “Stow ’n Go” body and tubs, dual glove boxes, multiple storage bins and other spacious and durable storage compartments.

The standard 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan comes with a 3.3 L V6 engine that can generate 170 HP and 205 lb.-ft. It also features a 4-speed automatic transmission, commercial-tuned front and rear suspension, electronic stability program and four-wheel disc brakes. Its hauling capabilities are also extensive with a 144.4-cu.ft. of cargo capacity, a payload capacity of 1,500 lbs. and a towing capacity of 3,800 lbs.
